What a blessing it was for me to see a teacher come to know God and commit her life to following in His path. At the beginning of the year, I agreed to pray for a teacher (for Families for Educators.) I was assigned to pray for my daughter’s fourth grade teacher at Hyer Elementary. At the beginning of the year, I wrote her a little note to let her know that I would be praying for her. At the first class picnic in September, I approached her and asked her if there was any way I might pray for her. She broke down and told me all of the difficult things that were going on in her life. This began what would be an exciting year of sharing my faith in Jesus Christ with her.
I had the joy of sharing with her God’s hope through her divorce, having to move out of her home of 20 plus years, her back surgery, difficulties with her teenage daughter and the death of her father. I invited her to visit my church with me and helped her get involved to their single Mom’s group. I constantly put scriptures on her desk, called her and spent time with her telling her about Jesus love for her.
In March of the year, she went with me to our churches’ Women’s retreat. During all of this time, it was obvious that God was wooing her and drawing her to Himself. A month later, one day at school on the play ground, this teacher joyfully decided to commit her life 100% to the Lord. Her countenance so quickly began to shine with the presence of the Lord. She began to grow in Him, is still active in our church and is attending a small group Bible Study that I am leading this summer.
Praise be to God!
